Warmbull appears to be a Labor plant!
Victory on the emissions tax swindle is sniffed in the wind.
November 20 2009
Nick Minchin is the leader of the Opposition to the leader of the
Opposition - and is more likely to win, too, in the battle over Malcolm
Turnbull's plan to approve the government's colossal new tax on gases:
"Senator Minchin openly defied his leader's position during the Senate
debate yesterday, arguing the bills were an "abomination" and deserved to be
rejected for a second time. "
"It is literally crazy to be committing to an ETS (emissions trading scheme)
before seeing the outcome of Copenhagen . . . and frankly idiotic before we
see the final form of the US emissions trading scheme," Senator Minchin
said, flanked by at least 10 Liberal senators who have supported his
anti-ETS views.
Tony Abbott has sniffed the winds in the party, too, and is switching sides:
"In July, Mr Abbott was staunchly behind Mr Turnbull's strategy, urging
Liberal MPs to allow the Opposition Leader to exercise his assessment on
emissions trading and to save the Coalition from a double dissolution fight
"it can't win". "
"Now he is arguing internally that the "politics have changed", that the
Coalition is now in a "pre-election phase" where it is wise to differentiate
itself from the government and that the vehemence of the Coalition climate
sceptics means a "no" vote is the only way to avoid a wide and damaging
split in the Liberal Party."
What a defensive argument, though.
Guys, fight this like it was a battle not just for reason but for the
country's national interest.
As it indeed is.
Enough with this "maybe they won't hit us" rationalisation from both sides
of the argument.
It looks weak.
It is weak,
And it sure can't be fun.

"It is a remarkable fact that despite the worldwide expenditure of perhaps
US$50 billion since 1990, and the efforts of tens of thousands of scientists
worldwide, no human climate signal has yet been detected that is distinct
from natural variation."
Bob Carter, Research Professor of Geology, James Cook University, Townsville
Bob Carter? Is it the same guy who is on the research committee of the
Institute of Public Affairs, a right-wing group that has received funding
from corporate interests including oil and tobacco companies?
No

I think he just has a genuine concern about the implications of
climate change.

What nonsense.
The European Union already has a trading scheme.

"....The European Union Emission Trading Scheme (or EU ETS) is the
largest multi-national, greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme in the
world and was created in conjunction with the Kyoto Protocol...."

Most probably ...

Yes, but we all know that Europeans are far more susceptible to fads and
fallacies than more rational beings!

Well if the plan is to make the leader of the opposition look even less
credible then plan successful.
