Erlend Wiborg, the immigration spokesperson for Norway's Progress Party,
has proposed that activists who break the law should be banned from
entering Norway.
This comes after Greta Thunberg was convicted in July for not obeying
the police during a protest.
Wiborg argues that Norway doesn't benefit from allowing foreign
demonstrators who have previously broken the law to return.
He questions whether the Justice Ministry will use its authority to
instruct the police in such matters.
On a recent Friday, protesters, including Greta Thunberg, blocked the
entrances to 11 ministries and were eventually removed by the police.
Thunberg had previously been convicted for refusing to comply with the
police during an action in Malmö a month earlier.
However, lawyers for the Norwegian protesters claim that expelling Greta
Thunberg would be illegal.
They argue that their Swedish clients are EU citizens and must pose a
"serious threat" to fundamental societal values to be expelled.
