The 1998 Educational Seminar
Practical Applications of Process Modeling in the Metals and Materials
Industries
Wednesday, May 27, 1998
Sheraton Inn
Pittsburgh, North
910 Sheraton Drive
Mars, PA
About this Seminar: Today, manufacturers need to take advantage of any tool
that can give them a competitive advantage. Engineering software products,
which allow processes to be simulated, tested and improved on the computer
rather than on the shop floor, are rapidly becoming a necessary item in the
process engineer’s toolbox. In this seminar a series of talks by experts in
the field will discuss the use of mathematical modeling as it applies to many
important commercial metal and materials processes. A special emphasis will be
placed on application of commercially available software products to real world
manufacturing issues. In addition to the technical talks, during an extended
lunch break, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with various software
vendors to explore how their products and services might address specific
needs. The emphasis of this seminar on practical applications should benefit
anyone interested in learning how computational tools can help them better
understand and improve their current processes as well as reduce the time and
cost for new product or process development.
About ASM: ASM International is a society whose mission is to gather, process
and disseminate technical information. ASM fosters the understanding and
application of engineered materials and their research, design, reliable
manufacture, use and economic and social benefits. This is accomplished via a
unique global information-sharing network of interaction among members in
forums and meetings, education programs and through publications and electronic
media.
