Several years ago I saw in a color course a little booklet produced by
the color coaters association that had several pages in it with
various colors. Then around (above, below, right, left) the center
color chip it had other color chips that were 1 and 5 Delta E units in
that chromaticity direction. I think the colors were like Macbeth
ColorChecker Chart chip material or something similar. It was very
useful for illustrating the magnitude of color differences. Does
anyone know if this booklet is available anywhere?
Thanks,

The Munsell system has average distances of dE=10 between samples,
for dV=1, dC=2 and dH=9°.
It's not clear on the X-Rite Website whether the samples still have to
be
viewed under light similar to illuminant C (instead of D50).

Eventually these docs might be helpful:

http://www.fho-emden.de/~hoffmann/munsell15052009.pdf
Contains CIELab and sRGB numbers. Contains out-of gamut
distances for sRGB and ISOCoated_v2-eci.icc (estimated).

I know about these. These are not what I saw. These are more
comprehensive.
The booklet I wanted was simpler, with just a few key colors and had
only
the 1 and 5 delta E chips, like this:

1
1 central color 1
1

5
5 central color 5
5

It's probably out of publication but thanks for the suggestion. I
checked the Coil Coaters association and they don't seem to offer it
anymore.

Gernot Hoffmann-
Sorry for the late thanks. I did see it last month but didn't get
around to thanking you for these nice references, so I'll thank you
now.
Best wishes, and thanks for all your valuable contributions to this
newsgroup.

Thank you Danny. This must be the one from your description, despite
the fact that they don't have a picture of it. I'll buy it.
Thanks again,
