Prof. John Isaacs, the renowned visionary director of the
UCSD (or was it Berkeley) Institute for Marine Research, who died in
the mid '70's, did some pioneering research into global water problems. he
also did particular research into the towing of icebergs to alleviate
water shortages in Southern california. The "iceberg project" was detailed in
an issue of one of the popular newstand magazines -LIFE, LOOK, National
Geographic were suggested as possibilities by someone who actually read
the article way back when - that appeared in the late 50's or early '60's.
There was also a presentation he made on "The Planetary Water Problem"
that appeared in the Proceedings of the 1st International Conference of
Women Engineers and Scientists - New York 1964.
If anyone can help me locate the above mentioned pieces, I would be
truly grateful.
I would prefer that replies be emailed directly to me
rle...@umassd.edu
although posting to the newsgroup is quite acceptable to me. Thanks.
