Little gadget with name of chromatic tuner way on top it says Pick
Boy, it has QT-01 printed on it; I assume it is the model. Has an on/off
switch and a pickup/mic switch. Also on the left side it has a pitch
control only activated by pressing into the unit as no button is
visible. The display has:

.---- C D E F G A B #
| > < 440Hz <---- varies
NOTE (a graphic which displays two arrows at the peak of a little
graphic mountain whose peak changes with frequency above)

Thanks for any input. What can this be used for?

It's probably a guitar tuner, though it could be used for any musical
instrument. The name chromatic signifies that it will automatically
display the note (and/or frequency, as in your model) as well as
information to show whether the note is in tune or not. Basic guitar
tuners often include a switch for each note and then have a meter to
show on-tune or off-tune-

The chromatic ones are easier to use as they can be left on-line all
the time so you can have a quick glance during performance if you want
to check if you're going off tune and can't rely on a musical ear...
or if the drummer is just behind you and you can't hear what you're
playing... :-)

Is this what you were asking for?

It's a device for tuning guitars. There should be a couple of 1/4 inch jacks
one goes to the guitar cord, and the other connects to the amp so the unit
can be left in line. The internal mic is used for tuning acoustic guitars.

Thanks to all that responded to my post. It indeed is what I had
asked for.

Minor note (sic) if you don't know what chromatic means in music: It means
that it does all the sharps, (and so also the flats of course!), in the
twelve tone scale! Has nothing to do with color, except that the visible
spectrum is about an octave, and all twelve tones are in an acoustic octave
show all possible notes, (colors of light, sort of), are shown. If it
doesn't have a solid crystal driven 440, then get a tuning fork at 440 Hz
for it at the music store. The old ones didn't. The pound symbol (#) is the
musical sharp symbol.
