Hello everybody, I'm a student at Henderson High School in
West Chester, Pennsylvania and I am on the Henderson Science Olympiad Team.
This year I have taken on the "Circuit Lab" event as a new challenge. I
was wondering if anyone would like to help us out by making up a mock test?

would like to make up a graphical test, I can take most any format
including computated graphics such as corel, micrographics, CGM, etc. The
following is the events rules/description. Sorry about any typos and
spelling errors as I typed this up late at night.

DESCRIPTION: Students will be presented with electrical data in a circuit
and asked to predict current, voltage, and power consumption; use a
voltmeter and ammeter to measure voltage and current; and analyze and draw
a circuit diagram.

Students: up to 2 Approx. Time: 50 minutes

THE COMPETITION:
Students will be presented with 3 exercises which they have approx 15
minutes each to complete. Students may use a calculator.

Example Exercise 1:
Students will be presented with a circuit diagram. The team will be
required to analyze the circuit from the diagram and predict the requested
voltages, currents, and power indicated on the daigram. Scoring will be
based on correctness of predicted voltages, currents, and power and the
time required to complete the exercise.

Example Exercise 2:
Students will be presented with a working circuit consisting of a power
supply or battery connected to a resister network. The students will be
asked to identify on a schematic drawing the direction of current flow in
various parts of the resistor network by using arrows. Students may be
asked to use either conventional or electron current in the exercise.
Also students may be asked to indicate the potential difference at various
locations within the circuit. Scoring will be based on the correctness of
the final circuit diagram and the time required to complete the exercise.

Example Exercise 3:
Students will be given a diagram of series and parallel circuits. The
team will be given the resistors, diodes, bread boards, connecting wire,
and a power supply and be asked to build the circuit. The student will
connect voltmeters and ammeters to determine the potential difference and
current as specified points in the circuit. The judges will apply power
to the circuit. Scoring will be based on the correctness of their wired
circuit, proper connections of meters, and correct reading of the meters.

Scoring: The scores from the 3 exerciese will be added to obtain the
total score. The highest total score is the winner. Ties broken based on
the shortest total time in exercises one and two.
