I'm about to redo a timer which used a mostek mk 50397 chip for a project.
Is it still available especially here in Australia (Who are the agents ?.) Or is there another chip which I could use ?.
My application requires :
a) counting time up to 59 hrs 59 mins 99/100 mins this was done with MK 50397 by changing input frequency to 1.6Hz.
b) low power consumption i.e portable & battery operated.
c) A hold button so count updates but display holds value.
d) display (original had a a 6 digit LCD).
Has anyone done anything similar , should I just an 68hc11 etc, can anyone give me some help ?.
Any answers would be appreciated.

In 1976 I used the counters MK50395N and MK50396N from Mostek. Meanwhile
the chips are not longer produced by Mostek (so far I know), but a company
named MICREL still produces the chips "MIC50395N" and "MIC50396N".
They should have the 50397 too.

A german distributor is:

MATRONIC GMBH
LICHTENBERGER WEG 3
TUEBINGEN
fax: 49 7071 45943

But you probably have to find a source somewhat nearer located :-).

Hope it helps
