Nomenclature: 1k0 and 2u2...huh?

I am reading an apparently British electronics text with
schematics.

Some schematics label resistors with 1k0 or 1k1 and
capacitors with such values as 2u2.

What do these trailing numbers mean? If I have ever seen
them before it was in college, and you know how long ago
that was! :)

Email might be better, unless this is not an obvious answer.

1k0 means 1.0 k
1k1 means 1.1 k

similarly, 2u2 means 2.2 uF
