I'm looking for a program that will show the heat distribution in a
piece of electronic equipment, given inputs like number, location and
power of heat sources, dimensions of heat sinks, location and cfm of
fans, etc. Sun/Unix platform preferred. If commercial could you give an
idea of the price?

Tried to e-mail, but it bounced.

Program: Static Thermal Analysis Program (STAP)
(from the catalog)

"STAP is a gen. purpose 2-D finite difference steady state heat transfer
program for the analysis of heat sinks for electronics. After entering
the heat sink properties, device parameters, and device locations, the
steady state temp profile across the heat sink, junction temps, and the
case temps are calculated. STAP is designed for the EE who is designing
reliable elec. circuits, however it is a fully functional gen. purpose
2-D thermal analysis program and can be used to solve any 2-D thermal
conduction problem."

Price: $195, for MSDOS or Macintosh.

Disclaimer: I have no connection wiht this company. I've never even done
business with them. I'm simply on their mailing list.

Hope this helps.
