Here are the specifications:

- bandwidth 100 Hz to 100 kHz
(ideal would be DC to 1 MHz)
- voltage gain at least 30 x
The load is about 30 kohm (about 10 mA peak current).
The load is referenced to ground.

I would prefer a commercial unit, but may need to
build my own.

Apex Microtechnology Corp., in Tuscon, AZ, makes high voltage op amps (so
do others, I've just had good luck with Apex in the past). They have one
with the bandwidth you need (model PA85), but rated at 450 V max. If your
load wasn't referenced to ground, you could use two and drive each end with
an op amp.
