Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to read this message.

My friend is having problems with my Pioneer CDX-P610 cd changer unit.
Over the period of about two weeks it has progressivly become slower to
find the start and play the cd's. This started of as a kind of rasping
noise on the music and has progressed to the point where playback is
broken or it will not find the disk when a new one is selected. I have
opened up the unit and chacked for any thing obvious, re-greased the
runners and cleaned the pick-up - to no avail.

I was wondering if there was any adjustment or if the unit will need
repair. Any help is appreciated.

PS I'm ok on the technical stuff as I work in the electronics industry.

If you want to e-mail me I'm at sbo...@cwcom.net

Many thanks Steve>>>

Could be many things. Troubleshooting will be needed. Anything that changes
in the coarse of a couple weeks is NOT due to an adjustment. Could be a
dirty spindle motor - well known with Pioneer CDs - or some other pickup
problem, or something mechanical. About the only thing you can do unless
you really want to get into it is try cleaning the lens. The CD repair guide
at the site below has all sorts of info.
