No. A VCR kit would be of the build your own PC type - put the
deck, modulates, front panel, case, together. You can do the
same by disassembling a 1980s VCR to this same level and then
putting it back together :-). One of the problems
is that the precision of the mechanical assemblies and alignment of
the electronics way beyond what could be reasonably expected of
kit builder's abilities. Not to mention that the major kit builders
were pretty much out of the kit business by the time VCRs became
mainstream :-(.
