With regards the resoldering of the tuner in the CTC17x chassis, has anyone
else noticed that even after the repair, flexing the PC board by pressing
down on the tuner causes the vertical size to change momentarily. I've done
-exactly- what the RCA bulletin describes with regards the jumpers, and
I've added jumpers to try to reduce or eliminate that effect... no luck. If
current is going across the board through cheesy ground traces, it's no
wonder the bad tuner grounds result in data corruption in the EEPROM. None
of my repairs have ever come back, but I've noticed that effect on the last
few sets I worked on.

Hi Ray, yes they all do this, this is normal function for these. I first
noticed this on a brand new one in 1992, the first one I saw. I don't
know why they do this, nor does it keep me awake at night either. There
was a time when I would have had to know the reason for this, but now I
just want to make sure the TV is fixed correctly and permanently. So
yes, you've been repairing them correctly....sleep soundly!
