I have a tektronix digital storage oscilloscope which died.
Tektronix over here in Holland say: it's on his service-end and so not
repairable anymore.
So i took the advantage and opent it myself. The primaire power stage has
blown. It is a component marked: P6N55 by Motorola, so it the part number
would be: MTP6N55
After a while on the Internet I found something. It looks like P5N60. Is
this Power MOSFet replace-able by this one?
Can anyone give me an answer please? The scope is build in 1991, and has
lost his service in 1998. It seems to me to soon. Also Tektronix even have
problems to find their own servicemanual.... For those who knows, it handles
about Q901.
Thanx in advance!

You need to find a FET with equal or higher V,and a lower R,and equal or higher
current capability.I compiled these specs while I worked at TEK.

|the FET you mention had a high failure rate. One mod that was implemented
was
|to remove the connector that plugs onto the FET,and solder the wires to the
FET
|directly. Also, the Electrolytics are likely showing high ESR,and causing a
|higher PS dissipation.Here's spme TEK FET specs;

Thanx, I replace the FET with a BUZ91A (commonly available here) and it
works great now! I did replace all the electrolytics in the pwersupply.
