What is it? The WEco numbers are not a commonly seen thing except within
the telephone company. I think the KS number means that it was
originally a Kellogg Switch and Signal device.

KS number stands for Kearny Specification (a Western Electric office in
New Jersy) These pecs were for purchase of equipment from other
manufacturers. The spec. may not even exist anymore unless you find
the manufacturer.

Trivia time: KS is for Kearny Stock, after the item's number in the
warehouse at Kearny, N.J. that was the major distribution point for the
Bell System.

For reasons with which I am not familiar, Kearny is pronounced like Carney.

'KS' stood for 'Kearny Standard' which was what WECO used for those products
that they had made for them by other manufacturers to their specs. These amps
were made by Dukane. (Kearny is outside Newark NJ and was where WeCo head-
quarters were located for a number of years.
