You mean RS422?
The protocols are in fact different, you'll need active electronics. We've
bought some adaptors from Industrial Computer Source - I think it's
http://www.icscom.com but you may need to look it up on Google.

We are talking abt different signal-levels. RS232 is +5V and -5V or more. RS
422/485 is 0V and +5V (ttl).

You need level converters. RS232 is a single ended +/- voltage
signal, and RS422/RS485 is a 0/+5 V differential signal. I have a simple
schematic for a RS232 to RS422/RS485 converter that I will be putting on
my new website in the next few days. I will post the link when its up.
(it was on y old site, but I just changed my ISP, and I can't access the
old site to tell you where it is on the old site. I didn't have a link
to it when I decided to pull the plug on http://users.mfi.net/terrell/
where I had a lot of manuals and some parts data listed. I can email it
to you, its only about a 12K GIF.

Is this for a Bernoulli or did you mean RS-422? I think these use a
parallel driver instead of the unbalanced type as in RS-232, so you
can't just wire up a cable converter. I think it actually requires some
smarts in the converter box.
