I know this is an old thread, but...

My mother recently bought a 2003 model Apex 25" jobby from Wal*Mart that has
a shitty picture and cheap feel. Yep, made in China alright. The screen
blooms horribly, tint is just horrible no matter what, and the picture is
just nasty compared to other sets. Even other cheap-o sets. I took and
repaired her 31" Sanyo (circa 1993) set that failed and it has a picture ten
times better than the brand new Apex. Not to mention excellent stereo
sound, RCA/SVideo inputs.

An just the other day I picked up an older Magnavox 47" Projection set from
a thrift store for $20. After minor repairs a good cleaning, and a coolant
change in the three CRTs, it has a superb picture for a set made in 1988!
Projection set none the less! And again, great stereo sound, lotsa fancy
OSDs and settings.

Magnavox may not be the greatest, but I do like some of the slightly the
older stuff.

It's your call, but this is my blurb I wanted to add!
