Hello there,

I am searching for the Kenwood KA-1030 :

Current Bias value between the emitter resistor.
Somebody have it ?

Two others questions :

Is it a good value : 0.00 mA for the speakers output ?
Is it a good value : 0.06 mV for the speakers output ?

Thanks a lot

Regards,

JP PELAN

Set it to about 25ma for current bias. If there is no distortion in
the sound, this should do okay. If there is some distortion before
full rated power, then increase the current a few ma.

To know the ma calculate the voltage you should have accross the bias
resistors. Don't put a current meter in series with these resistors.
The resistance values here are low, and the meter's internal
resistance will effect the accuracy.

You are more likely to here distortion from incorrect bias settings at
very low volumes. I like to play some Chopin piano sonatas as it's very
easy to spot crossover distortion with quiet piano music. It sounds
like rattling in the tweeter - like the voice coil is rubbing.

Nah, I find it sounds more like a saw does cutting wood. Very gritty...
But that's just me!

Hello,

Thank you very much for you repply.

What do you think about this amplifier ?

Is it a "not so bad" amplifier ?

May I change it for an other one ?

Thank you

I think it sounds like somebody saying "my bias is wrong. you could fix me,
but instead, why not just turn me up?"

I've got one here that had a screwed-up bias setting. Being the music I
typically listen to, and the volume I listen to it at, I was seriously
tempted to leave it that way :)
