I had a label stock jam and after removing the lable found that the printer was not functioning. The self-test reported "923 Service Fuser error"
Advice appreciated.

usually a 'fuser error' means that the fuser heater-lamp has burned out, or a wire has broken. typically there's a thermal fuse on top of the fuser which sometimes can go.
if you turn on the printer and wait for it to warm up and the fuser is ice-cold, then you know the fuser isn't working
