Sony SLV-815 VCR gives display, but is otherwise dead

I own Sony SLV-815 which has all the display functions, like setting the
clock, changing the mode (VTR or TV), switching PDC on or off, but is
otherwise completely dead. If I try to enter a tape, i can just push it
manually in completely without triggering the load mechanism. I also don't
seem to be able to switch on the VCR, when I press the Standby button,
nothing happens. The display gives the tapetime readout, the presetnumber,
and the volumemeter.

I anybody has got a clue about this one, please respond to
