Nope.
You may have to dismantle the drive and blow it clean with a can of compressed
air.
Very likely, you may also have to rebuild the computer to thoroughly clean it
out.
You may also need the services of an exterminator to prevent this problem from
happening again. - Reinhart
The proper way to resolve this is to disassemble and clean out the unit.
However, if you are not careful or experienced you may damage something.
You can also try putting a bait trap nearby. These are little cans with
poisoned ant food inside which the ants eat and bring back to the nest.
Place the can where the ants can't avoid passing it.
Also, clean up around the computer and don't eat while at it. I see
computers with an incredible amount of food crumbs around and in (keyboard
especially) them and this attracts ants, roaches, etc.

I would be curious to know how the ants are attracted to go in to the
drive in the first place! You can open the machine, and blow
everything out with compressed air. You can also get a can of
compressed air from many of the electronic parts suppliers. This is
known as clean air used mainly for precision work. You can blow out
the areas of dust, and also blow out the drive. I would not use a hair
dryer on the drive.
After finishing, I would find out a substance or chemical that the ants
do not like. I would then put this all over the machine so that they
would not want to climb up in to it. These will cause some expensive
problems for you once they get in to the wrong places.
I would also look in to having an extermination company check out your
place to get rid of these for you. In our area this would be considered
a serious health and safety hazard. The exterminators can put down some
chemicals that these do not like, and they will not come back anymore.
They usually will only go where they think there is some food. Once they
make a habit of this, it is very hard to divert them.

I ever removed an ordinary black ants nest using a vacuumcleaner. But there
are much more types of ants. The so called "Pharao" ants are very hard to
fight. Around here they terrorised whole appartment blocks giving the local
terminators a hard time. Anyway you can open the case of your computer to
have a look inside. If you decide to blow them out you'd better take your
computer outside your home so far away they don't find there way back. (I
've no idea what distance is far enough, but if the enter your house again
they may find a place that's much more difficult to trace, making it almost
impossible to remove them.) If you have big enough a freezer you may put
your computer (or the part with the ants nest in it) into this freezer
overnight. Ants does not withstand -18C for that time but your computer
should, although I can't guarantee :) Switch it off and let it rest for some
hours before you freeze it. Also don't switch it on immediatly after
removing if from the freezer so to lower the temperature shock. The
professional way is outgassing. That's to say put it in a room you can suck
vacuum. Neither they ants nor their eggs will survive. Terminator companies
often ave these kind of facilities.
Succes removing your ants.

The ants are there because they have a nearby food supply. Remove the
food supply and they will leave and/or die. I would vacuum them out,
not blow them out if there are any dead bodies. Problem is they carry
their food back to their nest which might cause some problems.

A few moth balls in the bottom of the computer case should work fine.
You will see them leave and not come back.
Great follow-up and photos. They bring new meaning to a "buggy" computer.

Paradichlorobenzine fumes can disolve some plastics. I wouldn't put
them inside a computer.
