Hi,

I wonder if anyone has experienced this type of problem. The CRT is
common I think as I have 2 21" monitors one Taxan (the problem one)
and one Radius. Different front mouldings - but everything else is
identical - so same CRT right?

Here goes.

Model: Taxan Ergovision 2150 TC095

Used at 1600x1200 @ 60Hz

Failure.
Power on – LED OK
Static noise from the back of the monitor – Similar to the noise I got
when switching the monitor off.
If I am lucky the raster will be displayed, otherwise the CRT is dead.
Occasionally I would get the raster fade in and zoom to 300% or so
then fade out and leave a dead CRT.
No relay clicking noises when I change resolutions.
On power on – the CRT sometimes shows some life but only a very little
on about 10% of the CRT.

Lead up to failure.
Power on – LED OK
Raster will be displayed OK
Occasionally the raster will zoom or increase in size to 300% or so,
then stabilise.
There is a visible horizontal scan line; every few seconds moving
slowly up the CRT.

Notes.
There have been 2 power surges recently but these have been caught by
the UPS filter.
The monitor is never switched off, but does switch into power save in
30 mins if not used.
When the monitor gets hot there is a whine from one of the
transformers (the Horizontal fly-back I think). This has been cured
with a cooling fan. But I do think the heat has lead to some cold
solder joints, or over stressed components.
Seems like the CRT is getting no power.

Thanks in advance,

Steve. UK.

I popped the back off the monitor to see if the CRT neck glows - which is does.
