Hello,

I'm looking for a basic vom for tinkering with dead electronics that I can't
resist buying at flea markets. I'm a beginner at this stuff, so I don't need
anything fancy. And I don't have a lot of money to spend on this so I would
like to find a good vom at a reasonable price. Used, surplus, closeout, I
don't much care as long as it is reliable. A make and model number would be
nice. For anyone has one for sale or trade let me know.....

I have just finished reading the faq for this newsgroup and I extend my
thanks to those who took the time to put it together. The faq has gotten me
intrested in prusuing electronics repair as a hobby with my son. I'm going
in for my third hip replacement on monday so I should have some time to sit
at the bench and fiddle about with my dead panasonic cordless
phone/ansewering machine. (I bought it at a flea market for $5.00. It was
missing the power adapter. I carefully searched for a matching wall
wart...right voltage and right miliamp...plugged it in and OOPS!! Oh
yeah...polarity!! Anyway I burned something and I want a vom to find out
what and try to fix it.

Thanks a lot...
Jim

You can pick up a decent basic DMM for under $40 from a lot of
electronics companies. I've seen them for under $20, but I've never used
one that cheap, so I can't vouch for the quality.
