I have a VCR Pannasonic NV-G 21 with broken power suply. Problem is a
zener diode marked D 30, its imposible to read walue from it. Know
someone what for a diode is it? I mean this power suply is used in more
models of Pannasonic, it uses STR 10006 and STK 5338.
TIA Matus

That zener is shorted due to an overvoltage condition 90% of the time.

That part of the problem must be addressed before replacing it. One or more of
the outputs of that supply feed the regulation loop are either low or out
completely. As for testing puroses, you bring it up slowly on the variac
without the zener and monitor the voltage. It shouldn't exceed about 75% of the
voltage ratings on the filters for that source. Until you can bring it up to
full voltage without this happening, don't even bother to replace it yet.

The only exception is if it's the teeny one across the negative supply for the
VF display. You would notice the + end of the lytics going to ground in that
case.

Being an NV unit it is not the same as the consumer junk around here, so I
can't go much farther than that.

For safety's sake during troubleshooting, you can use a zener about 80-85% of
the voltage rating of the filters on that line. In fact I recommend it.
