It is in the unprintable area on the edge of the page.
The problem is the toner sticks to the AL in the bottom of the
scratch and prints several ticks down each page.
I know the coating are or at least were very nasty and toxic.
Any ideas on what kind of coating like epoxy, paint,
nail polish... that I could cover the scratch with to prevent
the aluminum from picking up the toner.
I also want to avoid something that would develop a charge and
attract MORE toner to the coating than the old scratch.
Is it possible to buy actual touchup coatings for the drums?
The printer is obsolete, and just buying a new drum is not
something I am interested in doing even IF possible.

I doubt that a coating is available that would work, and if it did,
you couldn't apply it evenly enough. The peaks and valleys would
adversely affect image quality.
So bite the bullet - toss the printer or replace the drum.

Check out site http://www.qualitylaser.com/. They repair laser
drum assys. maybe they would have the drum for your old printer.
