I have a RCA Pro 8 850 camcorder which had scrambled video in the
viewfinder, then after sitting unhooked from the power supply for a couple
of days it quit powering up altogether. Tried it with batteries and the
power supply. Neither worked. Power supply is in excellent condition
loaded it to its rated amps and the voltage didnt vary more than a few
tenths of a volt at most). I would like to fix this camera if at all
possible. I need a schematic, or just pinouts for the major components
(camera module, viewfinder etc.) i am particularly interested in a pinout of
the viewfinder, because if this camera has a trashed board (I am suspecting
this because of the way the video would stabilize when you first turned it
on and then as the unit seemed ot warm up it became progressively worse) I
am gonna use the viewfinder as a display.

Other facts which may be helpful
-build date on viewfidner =1990
-no OSD in viewfinder when video went away
-did not play tapes
-did not record to tapes
-when video was there on camera mode, the camera portion seemed fine
-video outs hooked to external monitor= same picture as in viewfinder
-all operation of tape deck seemed to work (I.E. the tape moved forward and
back properly, the eject mechanism worked properly)
-could have been a power supply problem (theory=maybe part of internal
supply that supplied the video board (I assume the one that sits on the
viewfinder side that the viewfinder and camera module both plug into could
be called the video board) was produced abnormal voltage fluctuations)
-previous owner said a small black roller object fell out however,
inspection of tape deck shows all rollers ot be in place, possibly the peice
which came out was a capacitor from the power supply unit.

I greatly thank everyone for their time in helping me with this matter. I do
not have a service manual for this unit, and right now I don't have a 'scope
to work with (just a good multimeter).

You have bad caps on the main PCB.

the SMD ones on the board where everything plugs in? and replace the ones on
the PS board on principle too maybe?

I would still like to have the pinouts for the viewfinder and camera module
if anyone has them, cause I dont really know if I am gonna invest the time
in soldeirng all those tiny caps back on...I may do it though...although
have a personal preference for the big RCAs like camera crews use...and this
is one of those tiny things

is it the little silver canister ones that usually go bad?...if so these
would be much easier to do then the tiny smd stuff..
