I have a Pioneer PD-M551 6-Disc Cartrdige-style changer.

Based on the research I have been able to do thus far, I am experiencing
a classic problem with it. I have seen a number of places where the
problem is mentioned, but have not seen anyone's responses (positive OR
negative).

I can load 6 CDs into the cartridge and put it in and press PLAY or
RANDOM (that's my preference, anyway).

The disc will start to play a song and then stop, eject the disc, move to
the next, play some of a song (or sometimes not), and move to the next
and so on. As it rejects the disc, it marks the disc number as not
present,so eventually, it says there are no discs loaded.

I understand that problems were experienced with a lot of these 6 disc
units, but I never heard a cause.

Any hope of repairing this, and if not, why?

Thanks,

Steve Thomas

If it has a REPLACEABLE cable from the pickup to the main board, especially
if it's white colored, this is a common fault. The part number is PNP1343.
