Hi readers,
I've got a SHARP CD Player. The lens of the player has become weak now as it
sometimes skips certain period of a track or sometimes doesn't even detect a
track. I tried the CD Lens Cleaner, and also attempted to blow off the dust
from the lens using electrical blowers. These methods improve the
performance of the CD Player but not make it perfect. Please assist me what
to do now. Is there any better methods of CD Lens cleaning which can make my
Cd player as efficient as it was on the day of purchase?

Hi
I'm experiencing similar problems with an Alpine car CD system. I've been told
that the lens is out of alignment. I've tried tweaking the adjusting scrwe in
either direction, but to no avail. Any ideas on how to align a laser??

regards
Rich

Start by cleaning the lens properly - see the FAQ!

You may indeed only need to properly clean the lens but if you've done
that and it still skips there are several fine electrical adjustments to
properly set the Focus and Tracking. These adjustments must be made with
a 'scope, preferably with a test CD. Don't try it if you don't have the
equipment or know-how because it will almost certainly end up worse and
you may not be able to get it back to where you started. If these
adjustments are checked and test okay, you probably have to change the
optical assembly or sled. Hope this helps.
