I accidentally tripped on the wires connected my computer speakers to the
subwoofer today, with enough force to actually rip off the ends. What was
left wasn't grey (Aluminum, iron, tin? wtf) wire, but copper wire. I
figured that maybe if I stripped the ends, and stuck in the copper wire
the speakers ought to work, but as many people here would guess I bet,
they don't. I guess the metal end that was bonded to the copper had some
electrical effect that was required for them to work. Is there any way to
fix this? I.e. is it possible to do myself, or can you suggest what sort
of service I'd need from a professional to fix these things?

Normally I'd buy new speakers, but I spent $200 on this set two months
ago, and I don't wanna eat that cost just yet...

Any help is wonderfully appreciated. Please reply to mos...@innocent.com
if you can.

Thanks,

Frank

The wires may not be the problem. If your stereo was on and the two wires
touched together, the speaker fuse inside of the amp unit be have blown, or
the output transistors or IC. The fuse would be no big deal, but the outputs
could be expensive.

Respectfully, it doesn't sound like you have a clue when it comes to anything
electrical. However, you should be able to find a friend who can deal with
wire splicing or connector replacement - it really should be pretty simple.
