Can anyone tell me who makes Crosley televisions? The reason I'm asking
is I have a friend that lives out west who is describing a problem with
her tv similar to the famous GE thermal expansion/bad solder joints on
the high voltage transformer problem. Apparently the picture goes out
intermittently. I haven't seen the problem, but what she is describing
sounds similar. She thinks the set is about one or two years old. Is this
the same chassis as the GE's? Don't have the model number yet, although
I can get it. Just curious as to whether this is the same type of set and
whether they have a repair program for this junk. Email prefered to the
address below, although I will try to read any posts.

Thanks,

Mark

same age.

Phillips, if you are lucky you can find the chassis number on the back.

If the symptom is loss of high voltage then resolder the bottom and *top* of
the horizontal drive transformer and any other connections the appear to be a
problem. This can short the horizontal output if allowed to continue for too
long. If the above repair fails to fix it you can order the part from
Phillips with the reference designator (i.e. T501).

FWIW:
Philips makes or made Philips, Magnavox, Sylvania, Crosley, Philco under their
direct control and have contract manufactured for Curtis Mathis, some hotel TV
suppliers and an odd one for some sort of waiting room application.

If you find this of use, ship me an RS6000 with all the bug fixes. ;-)

Who makes them? I have never heard of them! It is like who made MTC
TVs? I heard something to the effect that they were an importing
division of Mitsui (CD roms) and they closed it up.

You neglect to mention Bell & Howell sets which are also made by them.
They are almost identical to Magnavox with more features.
