My Philips CD 473 CD player stopped playing :-(

The spindle motor doesn't get any power. I've tried the motor with
some batteries, and it seems to work OK.
There seems to be no current from the main electronics board to the
motor's connector.

Could anybody give me any clues on what to try next?

Regards,

Eelco.

RE: Startup Problems. It probably isn't motor drive but lack of focus
lock or something more basic.

Hi. I can not fix your problem but I am interested because the same thing happened to my Phiilips AK601 CD a while back. It would be great if you could let me know if you get anywhere with yours.
Thanks.

Hi Nick,

I had a friend come over with a scope. When I tried to demonstrate him
the problem, the player suddenly worked fine. :-)
The only thing I did was blow off some dust that fell on the open
player over the last 2 weeks.

Have you tried cleaning the lens, and blowing off any dust that might
have collected in the optical pick-up?

Have you visited this site with lots of repair-hints:

Good luck,
