Reference Designators

This is embarassing.

I'm in the process of coming up with some new documentation for use in
the company I work for. I need to come up with a listing of all the
standard reference designators used in the industry (obviously such as
R for resistor, C for cap, etc., etc.), but haven't been able to hunt
down anything on the web. I figured that someone would have posted a
list somewhere, but no luck so far. These people aren't in a rush to
pick up the latest ANSI drafting spec, so I'm on my own.

My problem is the unusual ref des's and specific applications (A for
assembly is straightforward; what is the precedence for subassy's?).
I've forgotten the definitions for some of the more oddball ones.

Anyone out there who can either send me something or else provide a
link to the info?
