I tried to push it manually but it wont work. Thanks for you input!
btw: If this is not something I can do myself can anyone know what I can
tell the repairman is wrong and a price estimate on what it would be ?

What experiences have the technicians out there had who have seen a lot
of these Aiwa 3-CD shelf systems?
I've repaired several for my customers over the past couple of years,
but they always seem to break again after another year or so. A lot of
the initial problems were with bad solder, flex cables failing, and
broken plastic parts in the changer mechanism. But then I've also seen
quite a few bad optical pickups and motors, too. Lately I've been
recommending against repairing the CD sections of these Aiwa units. It
always seems that the CD portion is what fails in them. Some of them
do have RCA type line inputs on the back, so that a separate CD player
can be plugged in there to bypass the broken internal one. Somehow
that seems like a more cost-effective repair if they are going to break
every 12 months, assuming that you can find a higher quality external
CD player.
Several months ago I bought a very similar looking (on the outside) 3-
CD shelf system that was made by Sony off of eBay, and it seemed to be
much more robustly constructed on the inside (more metal, less plastic)
than the Aiwa. The Sony doesn't have the clear plastic top or the
little multi-colored LED light show around the CD, but I don't see that
as being a really necessary feature anyway. When I got the Sony
system, it wasn't working, but it only needed the flex cable to the
optical pickup changed and it has worked beautifully ever since.

The maker, AIWA, has had the tray on the right hand side misaligned slightly.
For each device you find, you have to ask Aiwa for a little spacer that costs
15 cents, as I remember from one of their tech. bulletins from January, 1996.
This little 15 cent spacer causes all of the problems with cam gear loading
and timing on the disk tray. There is also a lip on the blue gear that
sometimes will break off if forced. There are alignment markings on the gear
that can be checked, andthey have to be positioned properly to ensure timing of
the tray once again.
