Does anyone know how I can pry one of these open without breaking it? I'm
sure it's using those plastic tabs but where are they located and where do I
place the screwdriver to lift them?

Thanks,

Henry

What type of gigaset? I know that the newer types (eg. gigaset 3015) are a
problem to open.
You'd better NOT use a screwdriver. The plastic case is easily damaged.
use a gitar pick instead. Also works great on remote controles.

I found at:
Newsgroups: de.sci.electronics
Subject: Re: Mobilteil vom "Gigaset"
From: Andreas Tiefenbacher <ha...@sbg.at>
Date: Sun, 08 Oct 2000 10:27:58 -0200

a message, which I will try to translate

"Placement of tabs:
Two, seen from upside, just sidewards,
two on the side behind the holes for the clip,
two on the height of the first row of buttons (store, repeat)
four on each side on the height of the lower three button rows.

He recommended to start with the tabs behind the holes, then in the
middle, then the upper ones. The lower ones will then open by
themselves, mostly, he said.

I checked it with the 1000

Hi,
My Siemens 2400 gigaset handset went for a swim in my suit pocket last week.
I tried to dry it out, but not much of a response yet. The display lights
up, it beeps, but it's blank. Considering the circumstances, would this be
worth repairing, or should I just get another on ebay for $50?
Are parts/manual available?

If you decide to trash it, let me know and I'll buy it off you for parts.

I think the 2400 must be different. I found it easiest to pry the tabs
along the sides, adjacent to lower part of the number pad. Once you get
that, all the other side tabs seem to let go. However, there is something
holding it at the very top of the handset (at the speaker) that I can't seem
to release. Can't figure out what is holding it. Any idea?

I'm sorry, but I have no experience with phones. I only translated
these tips written by Andreas

More tabs at the top. I took it apart and there doesnt seem to be any
salvageable parts to re-use.

I own the Gigaset (1010 base, 1000S handset) and I tried to dismantle it
(no more LCD display) two days ago.

I easily found the bottom tabs, but I also get stuck around the speaker.

There are no tabs around the clip holes as well.

I also managed to slide a thin plastic bit around the speaker, between the
two covers, without encountering real blocking, so : no tab there ?

Is there a trick ? A kind of one way rivet to destroy ?

Pushing a pin in the holes for the clip ?

I won't go any further until I get some more advice.

Thanks.

Pierre
