I have two of these w/ similar problems.
On one, the horizontal scan varies wildly (symmetrically) during the
short period of time i am willing to have the monitor on. This is accompanied
by flubbing noises and smells.
the other monitor has multiple wraps like a horizontal phase problem, but
multiple times per scan line. The horizontal drive signal is not a saw tooth,
but has multiple rounded humps.
I'm thinking in both cases something is not getting the right power because
of intermittent connections(1st monitor) or bad components (2nd monitor) .
Any suggestions?
Thx, eric.

Eric,

I'm not familiar with the 6314-001, but the first problem sounds
remarkably like the one I had with a 6319-001 (made by Hitachi). In
that case, the connector from the main board to the smaller
daughterboard had deteriorated (overheated) and one contact was no
longer making good contact.
