I have a Sharp mini-tower audio system (CD-CH1000) that is about a
year and a half old. Anyway, whenever I put a CD in, it tries to play
the CD, but there is a very distracting whirring sound coming from
inside. This used to only happen with Sony Essential Classic CDs for
some reason, but now it happens with any CD I try to play. Also, the
CDs are starting to skip very badly as well, making the CD player
pretty much useless. I've tried using a lens cleaner, but that does
nothing, and anyway I'm pretty sure that's not the problem (the
whirring sound is very loud and sounds like it's coming from the inner
mechanism). Any advice?
Also, I called a repair place, and they said it will probablt cost
about 150 dollars to repair it. Do you think it's worth it? This
stereo was an Xmas present, so I'm not sure exactly how much it cost,
but I think it was around 300 dollars. Do you think the repair place
will be able to fix this problem, and that it won't come back once
they fix it? Or should I just buy a new stereo?
