I have a Goldstar 14" color VGA monitor that goes into broad horizontal lines (losing sync?).
It's an intermittent connection somewhere because a good rap on the side fixes it. I thought
it was the cable connector but have resoldered that three times with no result. Any suggestions,
please? It's damned annoying.

Hit it with a hammer.

You could open it up and find the horizontal pot and just adjust
it..that usually does the trick.

Note that some connector pins and contacts have been knoen to be improperly
sized. This has happened on NEC monitors that I know of. If this is the

Ron,
This technique is more correctly known as "percussive maintenance" :)

You have probably eliminated the solder joints. Check out the connector

contacts & stuff in the near vicinity. Go tapping very lightly on the
board to see if you can induce it.

Double posting is also very annoying.
