I'd like to control some 15 lights by infrared remote, using an old Sony
transmitter.
Unfortunately, I had to find out that this remote (RMT-V107A) can control
some functions on my Sony VCR, and of course, the same channels I want to
use for the lights.

Reading up on RC5 IR technology, I found out that it is possible to change
the sub-system adress on the remote transmitter, thereby changing a VCR
remote to another system, eg an audio amplifier. Unfortunately, my
references only mention the chips SAA 3006, SAA3010 abd SAA3027
(Philips??). My Sony remote's only chip has a Mitsubishi symbol and is
labelled "M34201M4-248FP 119101". So I'm stuck!

My questions:
1. Are Sony IR remotes working on the RC5 technology? If not, what do they
use, and where can I find infos?
2. Does anyone know how to change the sub-system adress on that Sony/Mitsi
chip?
3. Any other ideas? I do NOT want to make my own IR transmitter (always
turn out ugly....)

Please copy your reply to my e-mail: k.le...@auckland.ac.nz

Thanks in advance
Klaus
