KSS-123A & KSS-151A replacement

I've been repairing CD players for 4 years now. No problem most of the time.
Even the older Pioneers are not too much of a problem now (phew).
I do encounter some availability problems especially with the Sony KSS-151A
and the KSS-123A laser units. I was wondering if there are alternative units
for these two laser units. I can obtain KSS-122A units (here in Holland
Europe!) but I have no clue if this unit can replace the KSS-123A. Sony
isn't much help either.
I know these two units are OLD. But there are certain (older) Denon CD
players which were (very) expensive 10 years ago, and may still be
economically repaired if only the laser units were available.

Sony parts master shows the kss-151a has a replacement part number of
884806411 , a search on kss-123a pulls up nothing

I got into the (bad) habit of replacing Sony lasers with whatever part would
physically fit and have the same connections. Usually I do this for the cheap
customer who "doesn't want to spend a lot."
I haven't had a problem yet. So, if you find a KSS series laser that has the
same plugs, I would suggest you try it, if the original is no longer available.

It will cost less than half from Pintorex in Los Angeles. Mine was under 40.00
with shipping. Pac Coast is over 100.00.
