The mechanism that draws the tape into the drive doesn't seem to be
working.
Where should I start to trouble shoot this problem?
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I just spent $60.00 on a new motor.
Thanks

Remove the pivoting loading arm which pulls the tape out of the cassette and
moves it toward the capstan. Clean out the gummed-up lubricant, and relube
with a good cream or paste style lubricant (lubriplate, molylube, etc).

There were probably cheaper alternatives like just the bearing kit :-(.
I assume it basically worked before you replaced the motor, right?
What exactly did you disassemble to replace the motor? What exactly does it
do? Have you read the FAQ? Is the half-loading arm free to move? Were
any gears disturbed that may have had precise relationships to one-another?
See the FAQ.

>Check to make sure that you plugged in the connector at the rear of the
underneath PC board when you reassembled (near the drum). Look carefully,
because the connector can look plugged in even if it's not.
Good luck.
