Dear Pc technicians & engineers,
I have a Micon M-Note 753 laptop which is signaling that the CMOS
battery has to be changed.
Has anyone in this group had experience sourcing & replacing the CMOS
battery in a Micon M-Note 753 laptop?
I have changed batteries on my desktop computer system, but these
batteries & their sockets are of a different type, shape & size to the
Micon M-Note's.
After a futile search, the laptop manual is still buried somewhere
around the house.
Since I am sure that leaving the battery in place will lead to leakage
and corrosion, I would greatly appreciate instruction on how to
correctly remove the CMOS battery, and any recommendations on a
replacement.
NOTE: I have checked the micon web site for upgrade information, but
their pages don't point to any CMOS battery upgrade related
information, and their FAQ section doesn't mention CMOS batteries.
I have sent off a similar letter to the sup...@micon.com e-mail
address and am waiting for their reply, but I haven't high hopes of a
quick response (this being the beginning of the year and my unit being
more than 3 years old).
Sincerely,
Yerodin Parris

Make sure you note down ALL cmos settings, as they will need to be
re-entered if the battery is replaced .
The battery should be fairly easy to obtain, try RS <www.rswww.com> as
they do a selection of CMOS backup cells/packs .
