Where is the typical IMEI stored in a typical cellphone?

I googled, for example "where is the IMEI stored", and found:
- "Where is the IMEI Stored? (Physically)" located at www.hackint0sh.org/
f203/199057.htm

This implied the IMEI is stored in in something called "pseudo sram" on a
particular chip (NUMONYX PF38F3050MOY0CE) of a particular phone (iPhone
3G).

But, I'm trying to find where the IMEI is stored on a Motorola RAZR.

To make matters more complicated, this thread implies there are TWO IMEI
numbers, one called the "Display IMEI" (aka "Ordinary IMEI) and the other
is called the "Original IMEI".

That article implies both IMEI's are stored in the phone's EEPROM.

Does anyone have experience with the IMEI who can tell me where the IMEI
is stored on the Motorola RAZR V3?

The IMEI is stored in a flash-memory chip and is trivial to change and is
often changed for privacy reasons.

You simply need the freeware program that modifies the flash memory for
your cell phone. I'll give you a hint. It starts with "I".

Google is your friend.
