I think it only had a gyro to stabilise it, controlling vanes in the rocket
outlet. It was a very simple system without any guidance system as such, it
was just aimed at London - quite a large target.

I can just remember being in Regent's park in London with my father when one
exploded. It must have been 1944, and I'd have been two years old.

"Gravity's Rainbow," by Pynchon. Lots of good technical data in there.

There is enough data to try make one, and with some electronics you
could reduce weight on the guidance...
Not sure it will make Washington from here.
You could use less explosives, just the white house...
probably need 3 stages.
GPS would be sufficient but inhibited, but a color sensor for white
paint.... once in the area by inertial nav, laser giro.
Maybe we could have a design contest.
Designs need to be in before the elections.
That missile defense system does not workks, so no obstacles.

Yes, my ancestors did indeed come *from* Europe (England, Norway,
and Finland, if you must know). What a nice place to be *from*.
Africa is another many are happy their ancestors are *from*.
Indeed great numbers of Americans are very happy their parents
were *from* somewhere else. They then aren't *there*.

The software has been worked on for years, there is a hell of a lot more
investment and value in it than $2K.

Google gets a LARGE number of people looking at it daily.
If they can keep on top of being the search-engine of choice for
new internet users, and not allow shareholders to weaken the search
engine by skewing search results, then they might just end up on top
of the internet as it crashes through the two-billion user mark.

I see you got your economics education from the same place you
got your political science education. Such a burst,if industry-
wide, would lead to *DEFLATION*, not inflation. ...which was
indeed been a huge worry over the past few years. Not so much
now that the Fed got its monetary policy stabilized.

MS has already tried. ...and failed. Dunno why, perhaps because
they're too far into milking users dry for OSs? They certainly
don't understand the "free" business model.

Some basic things we agree on, much of my financial knowledge comes
from reading stuff written by (or ordered written by) George Soros,
Prof Edwards, (both US) some well known training here in the Netherlands
on uni level, some painful experiments with options etc. of my own,
Just looked at the bookshelf, quite some stuff.
Also I tried to put some of that into software, see for example
http://ip51cf87c4.direct-adsl.nl/panteltje/financial/
Some other stuff, and making some money too.
Google is what Soros refers to as 'boom bust' case, in my view.
As far a MS goes, maybe you read no news, but the sell(out) of google
came almost immediately after MS announced they are going to make their own.
That could then perhaps be part of the next windows version ,and the endless
lawsuits associated with that you can imagine, after the lawsuits for
an integrated browser (Netscape - exploder).
All this only represents my personal views and understanding, so if believing
my financial views makes you poor, tuff luck ;-)
After all I am just an amateur in the financial world.
Just interested in how the capitalist system works, hehe.
JP
PS as to inflation, it is already happening.
read the latest Greenspan report, full text is on the net, sleep a night
on it, and maybe you see US is short of cash.
And from there the rest follows.

in places, it is only the 2 terrorists who occupy the White House and hold
more then 50% of the US people hostage, and kill on average 100 civilians,
10 of their own soldiers, and mutilate 10 times that, every day.
Why defend these terrorists? Cowardice?

All the patents from the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and STS projects
are public domain - wouldn't it make more sense to build one
of them?

Getting the coordinates of "Cloverleaf" is pretty easy for anyone with
access to the 'net, down to the last few meters anyway (finding exact
coordinates left as an exercise). They've started to pixelate the
aerial photos of everything inside Observatory Circle, but there are
plenty of old photos floating around even without lifting your butt
out of your chair.

Here, for example: http://cryptome.org/seats-uneyeball.htm
And ward 3C08 in DC: http://www.anc3c.org/maps/3C08.jpg

Russian 1m resolution satellite photos can be ordered, AFAIK.

However, Cheney's secret bunker (probably not directly under One
Observatory Circle) is likely complete now (they were working
full-tilt on it over a year ago). Also, so many people apparently wish
him ill that he not only lives in a military installation but is
surrounded 24/7 by fanatical gunmen who are sworn to defend him to the
death.

Actually, if I had that kind of money, I'd start looking for a
friendly country somewhere in the Himalayas and build a mass driver
up the side of a mountain.

Heck - it could possibly even be done in Hawaii - then again,
those mts are still active volcanoes, aren't they? That'd present
some engineering challenges, although there's a practically limitless
supply of geothermal energy to tap.

Cheers!
Rich

Yes, just plug up the volcano with the spacecraft, wait til the pressure
build up, and release the clamps ;-)
