If they would round up a few hundred thousand hedge fund managers and
bankers and city employees and NYT opinion writers, and lock them in
small dark cells on a very little bread and water, it might Save The

The one big thing NYC has going it for young men is it has the largest
number of single young women per capita of any city in the US.

Fat chance of getting laid in San Fran if you're straight. LA is nearly
as bad. Seattle is a sausage-party disaster. DC is all lobbyist wonks
and boring white collar white chicks reading Reddit on their smartphone.

When I moved to SF, well, it was astonishing. I learned that I can't
handle two girlfriends simultaneously; I get confused.

I know SF women who date guys from places like Oakland and Santa
Barbara; they say that the men here are all gays or geeks.

The guys who have a bad time here are straight asian males. The asian
girls date white guys, but white women are less likely to date asians.

This explains it:

Yeah, pretty good. One of my former colleagues from Singapore told me
the Singapore Asian dating checklist was the 4 C's: Car, Condo, Cash,
Caucasian. There maybe another, but I don't recall...

This goes to show you how much these ultrasickening liberals know about government.

A state cannot enter a treaty with another country.

A similar argument is run with related clauses in the Constitution for those who claim the US government had no right to enter the civil war. That is that it prohibited as a pact between states. However, looking at it the other way, they had seceded and were no longer states of the united States.

In other words they were conquered. When the Declaration Of Independence was signed and considered in force, the English colonies were no longer English colonies, the English tried to conquer them and lost.

Not to take this into a discussion of the civil war, but it seems at least partly applicable. If New York were to secede then they would have the right to enter any treaty or agreement they wish.

However New York has no wish to secede, as far as I can tell. All fifty states do have petitions in for secession though, they have the required signatures though that number is very low and has not increased per capita like congressional districts. there was supposed to mandatorily be an answer from the federal government but I've heard nothing about it and really don't care.

The federal government damnear destroye the south during the "reconstruction". The KKK was formed to lynch judges, ot negroes. That came later. What's more, I have read those papers declaring confederation and secession from the union and there is a hell of alot more in them than slavery. While it was an important issue to them it was not the only issue by far. Poor people fought the war, but could not afford slaves. Why ? First of all slaves were taking their jobs and gloating the labor market while White Men starved. There had to be something else, and indeed there was, just read, FULLY those declarations and it comes clear.

Anyway, this is stupid New York state where the state supreme court should have nixed the limit on the size of soft drinks and mandates on what kind of oil is to be used for French fries. And the SOBs didn't even outlaw hydrogenated oil which is worse for you than anything, and I mean including bacon grease. (ever have home fries made in bacon grease ? YUM as long as you don't put onions in)

I swear people are fucking stooooooopid. We got a California town putting up a local referendum for impeachment. that is how they think it works ? what was their civics class in school, picking one of the Bill Of Rights to be cancelled and of course the "correct" answer is the second ? Tax dollars go for this ?

And it is bad enough when the people are that stupid, now we have state legislators who do not know how the government works ?

Beam me up Scotty, there is no intelligent life on this planet.

NYC isn't alone. Apparently, some fifty cities are about to enter
into international treaties. I think NY, CA, and IL should go in
whole-hog. Raise gas to $10/gal and electricity to $1/kWh, just for a
start. On second thought, I don't want them here, either.

That's a fair trade. Let 'em but make sure they take their share of
the debt (they own more than their share).

Let 'em. Who cares what they do, as long as they don't come here.

Yup, tech dudez with too much money to throw around make it very lame
I'm sure:

<http://www.vanityfair.com/style/2016/07/welcome-to-the-new-prostitution-economy>

"The waiter with the handlebar mustache encourages us to “participate in
the small-plate culture.” Geraldine’s, the swank spot in Austin’s Hotel
Van Zandt, is brimming with tech guys, some loudly talking about money.
The college student at our table recommends the ribs—she’s been here
before, on “dates” with her “daddies.” “There are a lot of tech guys,”
she says. “They want the girlfriend experience, without having to deal
with an actual girlfriend.”

lame

"“While in college,” she goes on, “I’ve had the ability to focus on
developing myself because I’m not slaving away at a minimum-wage job. I
reject it when people say I’m oppressed by the patriarchy. People who
make seven dollars an hour are oppressed by the patriarchy.”

yup

"“Seeking Arrangement is modern feminism,” says founder Brandon Wade,
46, an M.I.T.-educated former software engineer, on the phone. His
InfoStream Group includes a number of other dating services, such as
Miss Travel, where a woman can find a traveling “companion” to “sponsor”
her vacation."

Fuck a "Brandon Wade" - men are really their own worst enemies, sometimes.

The Northeast is a lot better for Asian men in that respect.

My wife has a friend who is a foodie. They go out to dinner without
me.

Last night they went to Bar Crudo, expensive plates with tiny lumps of
raw seafood. She said it was disgusting.

On the other hand, there is some great burgers and prime rib and asian
food here; lots of options. Just no really good cajun-creole or BBQ
yet.

Why would they want to do that? Making gas expensive enough to encourage people to buy electric cars, or at least hybrids, might make sense, but raising the price high enough to stop people getting around would wreck the city.

Again, raising the price of electricity high enough to let them buy power from mostly renewable sources would make some kind of sense - but that doesn't raise the price much at all. Again, raising it high enough to stop people using it at all would wreck the city.

Krw doesn't really know how to think things through

the correct approach is to LOWER the price of the renewable energy.
Not by using subsidies, but keep working it until, you actually lower the actual cost to produce that energy.

Sure. But the way to reduce the cost of solar cells is to manufacture them in even higher volume. Germany deliberately tooled up to make them in ten times the volume that anybody else did more than a decade ago, and halved the unit cost. China did exactly the same thing more recently - a ten-fold larger capital investment.

There's still room in the market for it to happen again, twice, and a few well-timed burst of subsidy could get it to happen sooner.
