I am trying to repair an old Marantz amplifier, model 2270. The p.a.
transistors are numbered SJ2517 and SJ2518; also marked with an M
(Motorola?). Does anybody know where I could get hold of these? I can`t find
them in any of my normal source lists.

Chris, I do not know about the letter M, could be Motorola or Marconi. NTE and
ECG both have a replacement if you can not find the orginial. They both are
ECG/NTE 180 and ECG/NTE 181. The NTE180 (PNP) and NTE181 (NPN) are silicon
complementary transistors in a TO3 type package designed for use as output
devices in complementary audio amplifiers to 100W music power per channel. Data
sheet can be found at: http://www.nteinc.com/specs/100to199/NTE180.html

Russ
