1. About the UK Sources FAQ.

This FAQ has been compiled by myself for the benefit of those both in the UK
and overseas who are involved in electronics in one way or another. The UK
Sources FAQ covers over 200 UK-based mail order distributors and suppliers in
the educational (novice, student, trainee) and amateur-hobbyist electronics
markets, also the names, addresses and phone/ fax numbers of professional/
industrial-type distributors are listed. Many more handy addresses are given,
too.
Not all companies shown will necessarily either export or supply directly to
the individual user. In the case of a manufacturer they will often only sell
through appointed distributors, certainly not to the public. When known,
methods of payment such as credit cards (Mastercard/ Access, Visa, etc.) are
shown: companies accepting credit cards can be considered as geared towards
dealing with the hobbyist, student or general public as well as accepting
corporate purchase orders.
Export/ overseas enquirers are strongly advised to obtain a firm quotation
before placing an order, to be quite certain of the product availability, plus
shipping and handling costs. Also remember that you may incur a liability to
import duty - check with your Customs Department if necessary.
All prices shown are in UK POUNDS STERLING unless otherwise stated.

The FAQ is not intended to address industrial needs comprehensively since this
would be an impossible task. I'm sure the FAQ will grow and take shape with
time, but I want it to appeal to hobbyists, students, trainees and
educationalists as well as semi-professional or industrial users.

5. How to telephone or fax the UK
-----------
Telephone and fax numbers shown always have a dialling code (STD code)
beginning with zero. However the zero is *omitted* when dialling from outside
the UK. The international prefix for the UK is 44. In addition you must precede
this with your own country's International Direct Dialling number.
Example, a telephone number shown as (01234) 789345 would become + 44 1234
789345. Your country may have an International Direct Dialling Code, say 00,
for example, this would precede the 44.
