My dad went through a National Technical Schools
course about 20 or 25 years ago. The final
project was a Heathkit 25" TV, which he never
built. I was excited when he recently gave me the
kit to build. However, I want to understand what
I'm going to build, so I'm going through the
course myself.

He has almost all the lessons of the course, but
he's missing a few. Does anyone know where I
could get/buy these lessons? It seems National
Technical Schools is no longer in business. Does
anyone know if they were bought by someone or how
I could contact them to get these lessons?

Thanks in advance!

They always pushed the TV set as much as the course in their
advertisements, but I guess that's marketing. The course, I believe, was
pretty good.

Very good. I think you'll find that learning electronics is a great deal
more interesting and empowering than anything having to do with the TV
set.

Hmmm. There used to be outfits that sold used correspondence courses, but
I haven't seen their ads in years. National Radio Institute, the most
likely purchaser of National Technical Schools, is itself out of business
but still survives as a part of someone's office at McGraw-Hill, I think.
I'm an NRI alumnus and I've never seen the NTS course. I think the last
electronics correspondence course that's still breathing is Cleveland
Institute of Electronics.

For what it's worth, you might want to contact the California Department
of Education, who licensed NTS, or the national outfit that "accredits"
correspondence schools. This used to be called the National Home Study
Council, but their current name escapes me. Either outfit might have a
current address for NTS: my sense is that schools, even correspondence
schools, take forever to die.

Which lessons do you seem to be missing?
