And I hope you have a wonderfull one too.
My christmas wish: Mathew Orman is right, and his FTL cables work.
>I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!
Indeed! For the next few days, we can all go around wishing each other
season's greetings, basking in a glow of Christmas goodwill. Then in
January we can get back to the usual sorry-arsed state of affairs for
another year.

That will be a relief.
Oh, I've always wondered: how do you guys pronounce 'arse'?
And is 'gaol' pronounced like our 'jail'?
John
>Oh, I've always wondered: how do you guys pronounce 'arse'?
'a' as in 'father'. 'r' is sounded. 's' as in 'sugar', not as in
'cause'.

Yes. We use 'jail' as well.

So, like 'harsh' with a silent 'h'?

Or even two silent "h"s
We simply say it in such a way that it rhmyes with "farce" (an absurd
comedy - the pronunciation of which is the same in the US as here)
It WAS pronounced with 'sh' at the end in the dim and distant past.

And the same to you and all here, from a mild and cloudy East
Grinstead - waiting with still a little hope to hear from Beagle
tonight ;-(

Yeah, same here :)
BTW, my money's on Beagle 2 having landed successfully, but the
antenna being pointed the wrong way or something similar.
Hopefully the panels unfolded OK so it is now recharging.
Wonder what happened to the MPL? I reckon it was a transmitter
problem, its probably still sitting there on the Martian surface
waiting for instructions...
