Silent Night in Latin

Does anyone have the words to "Silent Night" in Latin that s/he could

It's a translation, isn't it? What is the language of the original?
Who wrote it ? I know there are versions in German and Polish.

Thank you, Jim Bigger, for a swift and helpful response. This is off
the top of my head, so please no flames. Stille Nacht was written in
1844 by Franz Gruber and Joseph Mohr. Gruber was a priest in a small
parish in Austria and right before Xmas he found that mice had damaged
the parish organ. He got choir director Mohr to set the poem he had
written to music and it was first performed Xmas eve to guitar
accompaniment. I may have Gruber's and Mohr's names reversed.

I hope so. I have a good friend in Salzberg, Hans Langreiter/gruber
who was the official member of the Gruber family at the rededication
of the small chapel.
